He was born in {{has county|Brantley County}} to the late {{has person |name=Bill Crews}} and {{has person |name=Irene Moody Drury}}.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, {{has person |name=Larry Crews}}, two sisters, {{has person |name=Mary Morgan Crews |alt=Mary Morgan}} and {{has person |name=Peggy Sue Drury Crews |alt=Peggy Sue Drury}}.

Mr. Crews was of the Baptist faith, he loved working on and collecting antique cars. He also enjoyed fishing and before his health failed, worked in the pulpwood business with Arnold Johnson Logging Company.

He is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, {{has person |name=Gail Newmans Crews}}, of Racepond; his special grandson and little buddy, {{has person |name=Kyle Crews}}; his daughter, {{has person |name=Kara Lynn Crews |alt=Kara Lynn (C.L.) Lewis}}, of Winokur; a step-daughter, {{has person |name=Amanda Harris}}, of Nahunta; his step-son, {{has person |name=Jonathan (Maggie) Newmans}}, of Waycross, two grandchildren, {{has person |name=Lance Sierra |alt=Lance (Sierra) Lewis}} and {{has person |name=Ashley Adams |alt=Ashley (Rev. Cliff) Adams}}, three step-grandchildren, {{has person |name=K.C. Harris}}, {{has person |name=Ashley Harris}} and {{has person |name=Amber Daniel |alt=Amber (Daniel) Johnson}}; two great-grandchildren, {{has person |name=Dayton Johnson}} and {{has person |name=Mailey Ann Thigpen}}, four brothers, {{has person |name=Lester Crews |alt=Lester (Ann) Crews}}, of Hoboken, {{has person |name=Bobby Crews |alt=Bobby (Trish) Crews}}, of Riverside Community, {{has person |name=John Drury, Jr. |surname=Drury}}, of Winokur and {{has person |name=Tony Drury |alt=Tony (Theresa) Drury}}, of Hoboken, three brothers-in-law, {{has person |name=Richard Newmand |alt=Richard (Donna) Newmans}}, of Jenson Beach, FL., {{has person |name=Roger Newmans |alt=Roger (Anna) Newmans}}, of Port Saint Lucie, FL., and {{has person |name=Freddie Newmans |alt=Rev. Freddie (Geraldine) Newmans}}, of Brunswick; several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Visitation was Monday evening starting at Frye Funeral Home in Nahunta.

Funeral services for Mr. Crews were Tuesday afternoon, October 13, at Sand Hill Baptist Church in Racepond with Rev. {{has person |name=Freddie Newmans}}, Rev. {{has person |name=Cliff Adams}} and Rev. {{has person |name=Wayne Manning}} officiating. Burial followed in [[Racepond Cemetery]].
