Mr. Jerry Crews, 63, of the Racepond Community, died Saturday morning, October 10, 2015 at Southeast Georgia Health System, Brunswick Campus after an extended illness. He was born in Brantley County to the late Bill Crews and Irene Moody Drury.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Larry Crews, two sisters, Mary Morgan and Peggy Sue Drury.

Mr. Crews was of the Baptist faith, he loved working on and collecting antique cars. He also enjoyed fishing and before his health failed, worked in the pulpwood business with Arnold Johnson Logging Company.

He is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Gail Newmans Crews, of Racepond; his special grandson and little buddy, Kyle Crews; his daughter, Kara Lynn (C.L.) Lewis, of Winokur; a step-daughter, Amanda Harris, of Nahunta; his step-son, Jonathan (Maggie) Newmans, of Waycross, two grandchildren, Lance (Sierra) Lewis and Ashley (Rev. Cliff) Adams, three step-grandchildren, K.C. Visitation was Monday evening starting at Frye Funeral Home in Nahunta.

Funeral services for Mr. Crews were Tuesday afternoon, October 13, at Sand Hill Baptist Church in Racepond with Rev. Freddie Newmans, Rev. Cliff Adams and Rev. Wayne Manning officiating. Burial followed in Racepond Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Raymond Wildes, William Crews, Lance Lewis, Jonathan Newmans, K.C. Harris, Kristin Byrd, Melvin Crews, Jeremy Harris and Randy Batten.

Honorary Pallbearers were Donnie Townsend and J.E. Carter.

Arrangements were with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta. Sympathy may be expressed by signing the online registry at fryefh.com.
