According to family histories, David and his brother traveled to Georgia from Connecticut to purchase lumber to sell back in Connecticut. During his visit David became quite ill with a fever, while his brother returned to Connecticut with the lumber. They continued members at Hickox until their deaths. David died 24 Feb 1887 in Brantly County, Georgia, United States,and he is burred at [[New Hope Cemetery]].
