Georgia held two land lotteries in 1832. The first awarded 160 acre plots<ref name="GA1">http://sos.georgia.gov/archives/what_do_we_have/land_lottery/land_lottery_1832.htm, GA Archives</ref>, while the second lottery, or gold lottery, awarded only 40 acre lots <ref>http://sos.georgia.gov/archives/what_do_we_have/land_lottery/land_lottery_1832gold.htm GA Archives 2</ref>.
