There is no evidence from primary sources that David had a nick name of "Yankee Dave", in fact, I believe I have identified the source of this idea. I had previously reached out to O.J because I have run across some of his research online, and his work seems to be the source of a lot of the most propigated information online about the Hickox family. In an email he claim “My father and his siblings used that moniker to differentiate between their Great-Great Grandfather David Hickox and his descendants with the same name.”  Since then, and without citing their source, this has propigated across the internet and can be found in many places.
